JUNE 2, 2018

Thank you to all who participated Saturday in our annual ‘Take a Kid Fishing Day’. For those who were unable to attend we had about a dozen Kiwanians led by Jim Wolfe, supported by 10  or more Key Clubbers, and the Horner family of chefs and the Sammartinos (Mark and Luke) fish species experts.   A great morning and day. Thank you to Jim Wolfe for organizing us and looking after all of the many details once again.  Thank you to our sponsors, Minute Man Press, Vero Tackle and Marine and Linus Buick.

The prizes were great--and included:  bright and colorful t-shirts, a tackle box, several brand new fishing poles, baseball caps, and personalized award plaques.

We are thankful to be able to celebrate the beauty of nature that is afforded us in tropical, sunny Vero Beach, Florida.  To incorporate the natural environment of the ocean and marine life into a day of action and participation for the children of Vero Beach and surrounding area, makes us all very, very happy.  The weather again cooperated--giving us just the right amount of sun and shade.

The day provides a great outlet for families to get together and for siblings and friends to interact together.  For the Kiwanians--it means a lot of fun and laughs trying to get things prepared on time, and make sure we have the supplies we need, the bait, the tackle, the snacks, the poles, and all that.  It gives us a chance too, to see the excitement and anticipation in the eyes of the very special children that we serve in the community.

Thanks to all.

Special Thanks to Minuteman Press for Sponsoring the printing costs for the Take a Kid Fishing Tournament Flyers

Steve Brunk, Owner of Minuteman Press in Vero Beach, recently donated over $2500 in material and services to print 10,000 flyers for the Kiwanis Take a Kid Fishing Tournament.  Steve is pictured here with Kiwanis member Tom Maher.
